Across those conversations, three recurring dynamics emerged that consistently shape how churches experience leadership challenges. From those interviews emerged The Courage • Clarity • Capacity Framework — a practical diagnostic framework that helps pastors identify the underlying nature of leadership and organizational challenges before determining the most appropriate response.
Whether you're a pastor, elder, or ministry leader, this paper is intended to help leadership teams better diagnose the organizational dynamics shaping their church.
Although this paper focuses on churches, the diagnostic principles and framework can also be applied across a wide range of organizational settings.
Why This Paper Matters
It’s often tempting to move quickly toward solutions — and we certainly want solutions. But this paper begins by asking a different question first: what is actually happening?
Before churches determine what to do, they often need a clearer understanding of what is actually happening.
This paper exists to help pastors and leadership teams slow down long enough to ask better diagnostic questions before moving into action.
